What’s Trending?
We start strong with a discussion about Donald Trump’s continuing administrative policies, one of which is discontinuing the penny. This has been in discussion for years, but many are surprised it happened. Rockne said he understood and agreed that it should be taken away. Aimee brings up a valid point about what happens when they get rid of it. What will we do for an exact change? Are we going to round up change? Rockne asks our guests and host what they all do with their pennies. Kayla and Aimee keep them in a jar and wait until they get more money. Rockne is probably like every other civilian and just throws them in his car without a second thought.

The group shifts the discussion to the Gulf of America. Aimee was researching it and was in shock that it was changed. She was contacting her family from back in Mexico, in disbelief this was happening. To her surprise, the President of Mexico was saying that Trump changing the name is illegal. She says that she thinks what the consensus is going to be is that half of the gulf is going to the Gulf of America, and the other half will be the Gulf of Mexico. Everyone thinks there are bigger problems that Trump should be focusing on, like Kayla cracking a joke that her eggs and gas are still not a dollar.

Next, the hosts break down former President Trump’s controversial remarks about Ukrainian President Zelensky, calling him a dictator and accusing him of imprisoning political rivals. Kayla criticizes Trump’s administration, particularly his mass deportation policies, and the hosts discuss how Americans are often sheltered from global perspectives, especially concerning the Russia-Ukraine war. Rockne adds that Trump had phone calls with both Zelensky and Putin, where both leaders reportedly expressed interest in ending the war. The conversation also touches on Russia’s tactics of conscripting random soldiers to fight.

This segment shifts gears to a lighter, more whimsical discussion about the anglerfish, which was recently spotted near the ocean surface, possibly due to global warming. The hosts share their admiration for the mysterious deep-sea creature, using it as a metaphor for resilience and finding light in dark times. They also explore possible scientific explanations for its behavior, including fleeing from a predator, illness, or environmental changes. The segment ends with a playful tribute to the anglerfish, with the hosts acknowledging its unique role in nature.
