Happy early Valentine’s Day, Bulldogs! There is so much to unpack in this week’s episode of Ferris Out Loud. In the first half of the episode, we have our host, Kayla Muter, and 3 special guests who talk a lot about very important trends that are happening today. These topics include Trump’s return, forest fires, TikTok bans, and the LGBTQ+ community.

Some of these topics hit home to some of our guests, such as Aimee Reynoso Cupido. When discussing the whole topic of President Trump coming back, they go into depth about Mexico part of it and Aimee speaks up about her thoughts on it and gives her honest opinion about how this doesn’t feel right to her and how it can affect people such as her and in her community. This took a lot of bravery from her because something like this can be very hard and not easy to discuss.
To add on, the crew then talks about the forest fires that are happening in California today. They show a news clip of this horrific experience and show houses being burned down, people crying because they lost everything. They even show and tell of all these missing animals and pets that are lost because of the fires. The crew sends out all their love and prayers to everyone who has been impacted by this tragedy.
The host and guest then all discuss the whole idea of the TikTok ban. They go into depth about how silly this whole ban thing was because it had only lasted 16 hours. They talk about when the ban happened where they were and how they reacted to it. Some of their responses were super funny and very relatable to most people.
For the last trend that the host and guest discussed was involving the LGBTQ+ and talking about Trump’s impact on this community, regarding Trump stating that there are only two genders now and how this can deeply affect people and hurt people who they truly want to be. Harmony Goodman who is a part of this community also opens to this topic and expresses how hurt and scared she is now considering Trump is not making it easy for this community to be around and how scary it can be at some times. She is outstanding and amazing for showing us her thoughts because, again, this is not an easy topic to talk about and can be uncomfortable in so many ways. We are proud of you, Harmony! The crew then dives into another segment of the show where they talk about Valentine’s Day and their thoughts on it and even play Valentine’s Day games.
Up next, the hosts play THIS? or THAT?, deciding between two options and debating their favorites.
First up: Sugar cookies vs. candy hearts. Most agree that sugar cookies are the way to go, though they do enjoy reading the classic messages on candy hearts.
Next, handwritten letter vs. curated playlist. The group is split—Kayla sincerely appreciates a heartfelt handwritten letter, while Harmony prefers listening to their own music.
Dining out vs. a home-cooked meal? With Valentine’s Day approaching, they agree that either option can be special with the right person. However, Rockne enjoys going out to eat.
Dressed up vs. casual? If it’s for Valentine’s Day, dressing up is the way to go—you just feel better.
Hallmark holiday vs. real holiday? Unanimously, they prefer real holidays over the commercialized, spend-too-much-money version of Valentine’s Day.
Game Time!
The first game is a word puzzle, where the second word changes by just one letter. The first clue is “Be M”, which everyone guesses correctly. The second and third clues, “Chocolate K” and “Chocolate T”, stumps Aimee, who starts getting frustrated. Then comes “Conversation H,” “Cupid’s A,” “Date N,” and “Flower B.” Watch the full episode for the answers.
Aimee asks, What’s your favorite flower to receive? Harmony loves lavender, while Kayla admits she can’t have flowers because of her cat. Aimee is surprised to learn that some flowers, like poinsettias, are toxic to cats.
Did You Know?
Another Valentine’s-themed conversation brings fun facts to the table:
Writing letters to Juliet has become a tradition—thousands of letters are sent to Verona, Italy, addressed to Juliet Capulet. The most touching letter writer is chosen to visit Juliet’s house.
The first heart-shaped chocolate box was created in 1861 by Richard Cadbury.
Rockne shares the story of the pope who established Valentine’s Day.
There’s even a celebration for singles on February 14th called Quirkyalone Day, celebrating self-love and independence.
The world’s largest engagement ring is located in Maryland.
Favorite Valentine’s Day Memories
To wrap up the episode, Kayla asks the hosts to share their most memorable Valentine’s Day moments. Harmony recalls their first date with Maddox, which happened on Valentine’s Day. They went to see The Croods 2, and Maddox even used his sister’s credit card to pay!
As the episode comes to a close, the music plays, the credits roll, and the screen fades to black…
