Written By Bryce Dysard, Cameron Altonen, and Brody Sara

Welcome back to another exciting episode of Ferris Out Loud! Host Kayla Muter kicks off the show by sharing her favorite video game, The Sims 4, and introducing her co-hosts Harmony, Rockne, and Torin, who each reveal their top picks. Harmony is currently enjoying Dreamlight Valley, Rockne prefers Fortnite, and Torin names Fallout: New Vegas as his favorite.

The episode begins with the “What’s Trending” segment, where the crew dives into current events and viral news. They discuss Senator Cory Booker’s recent speech, noting his unusual decision to fast for two days beforehand to ensure he could deliver his remarks uninterrupted. His extended monologue draws playful commentary from Torin, who jokes that it felt like Booker was just trying to meet a word count for an essay.

Next, the team shifts focus to the U.S. Air Force’s latest technological advancement—the F-47 Fighter Jet. Touted as the most powerful jet ever developed, the F-47 is pilotless and can be operated remotely. The group shares mixed feelings, acknowledging its impressive capabilities while expressing concerns about the implications of remote warfare.

The conversation then turns to an unexpected headline: scientists have reportedly brought back the dire wolf, an animal that has been extinct for over 10,000 years. The crew reacts with amazement and humor, speculating lightheartedly about the potential return of dinosaurs.

To close out the “What’s Trending” segment, the group discusses the latest LeBron James Ken doll. They comment on the stylish accessories that come with the doll, including a hat, Beats headphones, Nike shoes, and a gold watch, sharing laughs over the doll’s high-end fashion choices.

In the “This or That” segment, the hosts dive into rapid-fire debates filled with laughs and hot takes. The crew unanimously sides with Apple over Android, while most choose Xbox—though Torin prefers the PlayStation console with an Xbox controller. Torin and Kayla crack everyone up with outrageous finds from Facebook Marketplace. Spotify beats YouTube thanks to Kayla’s playlist obsession, even as Torin admits YouTube sucks him in for hours. Things heat up with TikTok vs. Instagram, sparking a lively back-and-forth packed with funny confessions.

In this fun-filled segment, Torin and Kayla face off in a high-stakes game of “Higher or Lower,” where they have to guess if the answer to some notable questions is higher or lower than expected. From debates like whether Xbox has sold more consoles than PlayStation, to whether Minecraft outperforms Roblox in player numbers, the tension is real. They also go head-to-head with classic gaming rivalries, like Call of Duty vs. Fortnite, as they try to predict the winner. It’s a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud challenge that keeps everyone guessing and entertained!

Kayla kicked things off with a staggering fact: video games make more money than TV, movies, and music combined, with an estimated $187 billion in revenue for 2024. That’s some serious cash!

Then, Harmony shared a surprising tidbit about Nintendo. Originally, they weren’t a video game company—they began in 1889 as a Japanese card game company and didn’t dive into video games until 1975. Their first game was called EVR Race

Rockne followed up with a fun piece of tech history: In the early 1960s, Douglas Engelbart created the first-ever computer mouse. A game changer!

Finally, Torin gave us the lowdown on the new Minecraft movie, which has received mixed reviews but still grossed the most of any video game adaptation to date. Definitely a big win for the gaming world.
