This week on Ferris Out Loud, hosts Ryan, Da’Shanaya, Sara, and Jade dive into a variety of trending topics. Here’s a breakdown of their discussions:

The Election Recap

The hosts express relief that election season is finally over, with everyone happy to be free from endless political ads. They shared how they stayed up late to watch the votes roll in, eagerly awaiting the results to see who would win.

Russia vs. Google

The crew discusses the surprising news that Russia is suing Google for a staggering 20 decillion dollars. The lawsuit stems from Russia’s claims that Google has been censoring Russian content on YouTube, stirring up a lot of controversy.

With that, the crew wrapped up another set of lively discussions, offering their unique takes on some of the most talked-about stories of the last few weeks.

Debate

Starting off with the debate topic, Ryan asks his fellow guests if they think robots will take over jobs. Da’Shanya gives her thoughts that robots have already shown up in many places, but has seen videos of robots failing. Ryan’s first thought when he hears this is McDonald’s with kiosks already in the restaurant in place of going up to the counter to order your food. Sara believes that even if robots or AI would take jobs, then the other half of the jobs would be people would be in charge of managing the robots and writing the program for the AI, so it’s not just jobs getting taken away.

The next topic is whether or not remote work is becoming the new normal. Da’Shanya believes it is because post-COVID, and people are more accessible. Jade prefers to be in an office because of the interaction with coworkers. She also makes the argument that being in the office you can go into work-mode and at home there are more distractions. Ryan builds off that idea and compares it to taking class online versus taking class in person. If you were to take an online class, then you would push off all the assignments until Sunday night or whenever they’re due, but in-person class then you are watching the lecture, doing what the teacher says, and participating in class.

Game Time

The first game was to guess the song based on the emojis on the screen, and the category was 2000’s songs. The first song was a man raising his hand, a finger pointing to the right, and a church emoji. The hosts were also given a few letters in place to help them with their guesses. Sara knew the artist and helped Da’Shanya guess “Take Me to Church” by Hozier.

Next song’s clues were an eyeball, a heart, a hand doing the rock and roll sign, and a roll of toilet paper. Ryan guessed “I Love Rock and Roll,” which was the correct answer. The third song was three hands waving, and the hosts immediately got the answer: “Bye Bye Bye” by NSYNC. Fourth, was two men and two women each with crowns. The song being “Kings and Queens.” The hosts guessed two more songs including “Watermelon Sugar” by Harry Styles and “No Tears Left to Cry.”
