Join Kayla Muter as she hosts this episode of Ferris Out Loud. Joing her as co-hosts are Harmony Goodman, Rockne Smith, and Torin Rohen.

In this week’s episode of Ferris Out Loud, host Kayla Muter was joined by her co-hosts Harmony Goodman, Rockne Smith, and Torin Rohen. They kicked things off with a lighthearted icebreaker where Kayla asked everyone to share their all-time favorite holiday. Harmony chose Halloween, Rockne enjoys St. Patrick’s Day, and, of course, Superbowl Sunday. Torin picked Valentine’s Day since it’s just a day before his birthday, and Kayla crowned Christmas as her favorite holiday.

The conversation quickly shifted to more serious matters, starting with the return of the SpaceX astronauts after a long and grueling nine months in space. The group agreed that being away from Earth for such an extended period of time must have been both physically and mentally exhausting. They discussed the challenges of readjusting to life on Earth after the weightlessness of space. Torin shared his curiosity about what the astronauts did on the International Space Station during their free time, considering how confined the space must have been.

The tone turned somber as they discussed the tragic case of Sudiksha Konanki, a college student who went missing while on spring break in the Dominican Republic. The hosts expressed their concerns and speculated on what might have happened. Kayla, in particular, was deeply moved, empathizing with Sudiksha’s parents and the unimaginable anxiety they must be feeling. The group shared their hopes for her safe return and wished for the best possible outcome.

From there, the conversation moved to the political arena as the group discussed President Trump’s proposed travel ban, which would restrict people from certain countries from entering the United States. The hosts were shocked by the long list of nations affected by the ban, and Torin voiced his concern that it would only deepen harmful stereotypes and create more division. They all agreed that it’s unfair to judge an entire country based on broad generalizations, acknowledging that every nation has both good and bad individuals.

After diving into heavier topics, the group lightened the mood with a round of This or That, a fun game that pits two choices against each other. The first question asked whether they would prefer to throw a party or be invited to one. Most of the group favored hosting the party, but Torin admitted he’d rather be invited, preferring not to manage a crowd. The next question compared New Year’s Eve versus New Year’s Day. While the group agreed that both holidays are a bit overrated, Rockne shared that he enjoys New Year’s Day because it’s his best friend’s birthday. The final This or That question asked whether it’s better to celebrate indoors or outdoors. The group discussed the pros and cons of each, concluding that weather plays a key factor. If the conditions are right, an outdoor celebration can be fantastic, but when the weather doesn’t cooperate, indoor celebrations might be the safer choice.

The fun continued with Game Time! as the hosts took on the challenge of 4 Pics 1 Word. In this game, they were given a set of four images that hint at a single word, and the hosts worked together to solve the puzzles. While some words came easily, others proved to be more challenging, and the hosts enjoyed the teamwork involved in cracking the codes.

To wrap up the episode, the hosts shared some fascinating facts in the Did You Know? segment. Kayla introduced Kukur Tihar, a Hindu festival that honors dogs by pampering them with treats, meals, and decorations. Rockne talked about the Durbar Festival, a vibrant celebration in northern Nigeria with colorful parades, decorated horses, music, and dancing. Harmony shared the history behind La Tomatina, a Spanish festival that began in 1945 when someone threw a tomato at another person. What started as a spontaneous act evolved into a massive annual tomato-throwing event. Finally, Torin wrapped up with the Yi Peng lantern festival in Thailand, where thousands of glowing lanterns are released into the sky, creating a stunning spectacle.

The episode concluded with the hosts teasing next week’s episode and encouraging listeners to tune in for more engaging conversations, fun games, and interesting facts.
