On this week’s episode of Ferris Sports Update, guest host Brody Keiser speaks with Bob Daniels about last Friday’s Hockey game against Grand Valley. Brody then moves on to speak with Coach Tony Annese about the matchup they had against Michigan Tech. Brody then goes to finish it off with Coach Greg Henson talking about the two games the soccer team played last weekend against Grand Valley and Davenport.
Much-needed Win
After last week’s devastating defeat against Grand Valley, the team was tired mentally. Coach Tony Annese was nervous about the matchup against Michigan Tech. Still, he was proud of his team for nabbing the much-needed win.
In last week’s practice, the team worked hard to bounce back from their Grand Valley defeat. Markel King stated in an interview that everyone is focused on improvement rather than dwelling on their Grand Valley loss.
Head Coach Tony Annese discusses the victory against Michigan Tech with Guest Host Brody Keiser. Ferris started the game aggressively, rushing any opportunity, Carson Gulker spearheading most of these drives. Carson was able to get five touchdowns for Ferris, an impressive number for a good game.
The team gained seven points in the first quarter and was successful in defending against Tech’s advances. Their defense was tested in the second quarter after Tech was able to sneak seven points. However, Ferris was ahead by 14 points by halftime.
By the third quarter, Tech had found a rhythm and were fighting back, gaining 14 points. Ferris was able to pull barely ahead with a seven-point lead. The team was able to lock in the victory by the end of the fourth quarter with another touchdown by Carson.

Exhibition Match
Brody sits down with head hockey coach Bob Daniels to discuss the exhibition match against Grand Valley this last Friday. Even though it did not count towards the players’ stats, Daniels explains how it was a good experience for the team to play against new opponents, and players who often don’t have enough ice time were allowed to play. Not to mention, it helps bring the Grand Valley hockey team to the spotlight with the hopes that they will be able to become a D1 hockey team! Even though it was one of the first times Grand Valley and Ferris faced off in about 40 years, Grand Valley was still able to put up a good match even though, in the end, Ferris pulled out a 9-0 victory.
Although Ferris came out with a lot of energy, Grand Valley was able to come out just as strong with outstanding goaltending. However, our defense was able to show off their skills throughout the game while also highlighting how outstanding the sophomore and junior classes were able to show off their skills! Ferris hits the road this weekend for the first time this season as they will be going up against Northern Michigan on Friday and Sunday.
Unexpected Matchs
Guest Host Brody Keiser finishes this week with Bulldogs soccer, speaking with Head Coach Greg Henson. They discussed a little bit about last weekend’s games against Davenport and Grand Valley. Shortly after, they watch highlight footage of the eventful weekend the Bulldogs had against Davenport and Grand Valley. At the start of the match against Davenport, the Bulldogs got off to a fast start as they tested a few shots on goal immediately.
In the first half of the games, the Bulldogs had Davenport 0-0 even. The Bulldogs were able to put pressure on Davenport early. Early in the second half, the Bulldogs finally managed to get a goal. The Bulldogs suddenly take their feet off the gas and allow Davenport a free kick from a careless foul. No more points were scored after, ending the match with a draw 1-1.
Brody then moves on to talk about the Grand Valley game on Sunday. In the first half, Grand Valley scored 5 minutes into the game. The Bulldogs try to regroup but fall apart as Grand Vally Scores another goal, ending the half 2-0. In the second half, the Bulldogs changed up some things. The Bulldogs managed to score a point from one of the corners of the field. Grand Valley, in the end, won the game 2-1. Brody finishes the episode by asking Greg Henson what he hopes to see from his team in the last few weeks of the season.
