The first guest on this week’s episode of Ferris Sports Update is Bulldogs junior quarterback Carson Gulker, who shares what it’s been like getting back on the field after suffering an early-season injury last year. He talks about his recovery process, what helped him stay positive during that time, and how eager he was to return to the weight room once he was cleared. Carson also reflects on stepping into more of a leadership role, mentoring younger players, and seeing the game from a new perspective as he explores different offensive positions. He credits the team’s effort this spring, pointing out how hard everyone’s been working while still finding ways to enjoy the process.

Rob then shifts the conversation to the offense and asks Carson what things are looking like in terms of experience. Carson explains that the team only lost two players on the offensive side of the ball and returns a solid group of key contributors from last season. In his view, this might be the most experienced squad since the 2021 National Championship team. He gives props to the offensive line for their strong play last year and says they’ll be a major part of the team’s success going forward. When asked what it’s like going up against Ferris State’s elite defense in practice, Carson admits it can be tough—but says that kind of competition only sharpens their skills.
The discussion then turns to motivation. Rob asks how the team resets and refocuses after winning a championship, and Carson says the mentality is simple: act like you haven’t won anything. That mindset keeps the group grounded and locked in on what’s next. To wrap up, Rob asks what it’ll take for the Bulldogs to stay sharp heading into the new season. Carson says it comes down to continuing to work hard and sticking to the path they’re already on. If they do that, he believes they’ll be in a great position to stay on top. Be sure to celebrate the Bulldogs National Championship by supporting them at the parade on April 9th!
